Safety Tips for Meeting Offline
Excited to meet your date for the first time? First dates are normally perfectly safe but we recommend always to take precautions and use the following guidelines:
- Start by telling someone about your date and plans. Tell a friend or family member, when and where you're going also tell as much about the person as you know.
- Choose a public place. Meet in a populated, public location, never in a private or remote location until you know each other better.
- Have your mobile phone with you and make sure it's fully charged.
- Drive yourself to and from the first meeting. Just in case things don't work out, you need to be in control of your own ride – even if you take a taxi.
- Don't have more than 1-2 drinks. Do not do anything that would impair your judgment and cause you to make a decision you could regret. Keep your drink with you at all times so it can't be tampered with.
- Don't leave personal items unattended. You don't want to risk having personal information stolen.
- Stay in a public place. It is best not to go back to your date's home or bring them back to yours on the first date. If your date pressures you, end the date and leave at once.
The type of person you want to have a relationship with is the type of person who wants you to feel safe and secure. Go and enjoy your date and remember to have fun, be desirable and thoughtful. Make eye contact and smell good.
